Jim and Terry Irvin Scholarship

Why did you choose to create a scholarship at Saint Leo University?
Saint Leo has been a central part of my life for 50 years. I received a stellar education here that emphasized critical thinking and ethical behavior in business and in life. I am proud of my association with Saint Leo and hope that the scholarship will help future Lions to complete their education at this wonderful institution.

What would you want the recipient to know about the persons for whom this scholarship is named?
Jim and Terry both have a strong commitment to higher education. Saint Leo’s influence has extended far beyond four years Jim spent on campus and has positively affected all aspects of his life since his college years.

What is your favorite Saint Leo story, tradition, or what Saint Leo has meant to you?
The day Saint Leo College received accreditation in 1967, the entire student body cut class and met at the Pink House, a favorite hangout, to celebrate. It was a wonderful day for Saint Leo and a memorable party.

What do you hope recipients gain through this scholarship support?
Obviously we hope that the scholarship will help students to continue their education and eventually earn a degree. But we also hope they will understand that along with education comes a responsibility to help those who follow.
